My apologies, I realised I didn’t post a writing update for April, so I will update both April and May in this post. If you would like my writing updates before anyone else, be sure to sign up to my author newsletter!
April 2026:
April was flash fiction month as I had four flash fiction stories published! Three of those were with Havok. Members can still read them, but if you are not a member you won’t be able to unfortunately. Though, if you sign up to my newsletter you’ll be able to read them when the rights revert back to me, as I’ll be sending them to my newsletter subscribers!
The fourth flash fiction story was published with Sparkler Magazine. You can still read my Alice in Wonderland sci-fi retelling on the sparkler website.
April was when I started my author newsletter. When you sign up you get a free flash fiction story of mine to download as a PDF. ‘A Treasured Touch’ is a sci-fi story that has never been published before. There are more free stories to come in the future including a novella connected to Project Dragon Riders, and a novella connected to my Love Inspired novel coming out in 2027.
Short stories:
I was busy working on a secret project that I can’t reveal yet, but I can’t wait to share it with you as soon as I can.
I edited a story and submitted it to the Winter Chiller anthology from Quill & Flame (I’ll let you know in my June update if this is accepted or not).
Novels:
I was busy working through draft two of Project Portal Fantasy. I went through it, fixing up all the things I had highlighted, deleting things and adding things as needed.
I wrote a few more chapters of A Dragon For Christmas, but haven’t posted them yet (At this stage I’m thinking I will just release the rest of the chapters in July, for Christmas in July).
That’s it for April.
May 2026:
A few exciting things happened in May. I did an interview with Sparkler Magazine. If you’d like, you can watch it on Youtube here. We also played a fun game of Would You Rather, which you can watch here.
My flash fiction thriller story, Stealing Sight, was April’s winner, which means it will be going into the Havok anthology. This is the first Havok story of mine to win. I was so shocked because I am not usually a thriller writer.

Short Stories:
If you remember, I had a poem selected for the Project OZ Poetry Anthology. During May, I was working through the edits on the poem.
I had no plans to write any flash fiction during the month of May as I wanted to concentrate on longer works. But then I realised Havok’s next theme was stories from around the world, so I couldn’t resist writing a story set in Australia. I had about a week to write it and get it sent in by June 1st, which I managed to do.
Novels:
I only worked on one novel during May. I was busy finishing the second draft of Project Portal Fantasy, which I was able to do. I sent it to a friend to read over, and also had to have it ready to send to my editor by June 1st. Though I am having an editor look over it, I would like to get this one traditionally published.
That’s it for now.
How was your writing goals for April and May? If you’re not a writer, what book did you enjoy? Let me know in the comments!
