My flash fiction story ‘Stealing Sight’ published on Havok today! This one is a thriller, which I don’t usually write, but I wanted to challenge myself. I actually scared myself writing the first draft! You won’t get many stories like this from me, so take the opportunity while you can! And this will be my last flash fiction story for a while as I concentrate on my longer short stories and novels.
Here is the opening:
Anticipation pulses through Anya as she hears the car pull up outside. She rises, making her way to the door, giggling quietly before schooling her features and opening it.
The man steps onto the porch, his aftershave hitting her nose, the scent marking his youth. “Mrs. Jansen? I’m Jed Barker. The agency sent me.”
“Yes, yes, come in, come in. I’ve been expecting you.” She shuffles back, spins around, and leads him to the kitchen…
