September:
I had another flash fiction accepted by Havok – It actually published Tuesday November 11th (They are quick to publish once a story has been accepted). If you are a member of Havok you can read my story here.
If you like flash fiction in the mystery, sci-fi, wacky, thriller and/or fantasy genres you might consider becoming a member of Havok. It is only $1.99 US for 90 days, or $4.99 US for the year. You can read the daily story free, but to access past stories you need to be a member.
I wrote another flash fiction story, edited and submitted it to Havok.
I started working on a mermaid short story for an anthology I want to submit to.
I started work on a new project!
I’m writing a graphic novel! Writing a graphic novel – words only – is unlike any other writing project I’ve attempted before. I did some research on how to write a graphic novel. Then I started outlining the graphic novel, before beginning to write the graphic novel.
An opportunity came up here in Australia to submit a graphic novel script to a competition with a new graphic novel press. I had just came up with an idea I thought would make a good graphic novel when the competition was announced. With such perfect timing, I though I better take the opportunity! It is due November 3oth.
October:
So the flash fiction story I submitted to Havok was accepted! I had to write a story based on Scrooge and I can’t wait to share my Scrooge story with you. It is Scrooge like you’ve never seen him before!
It is publishing on December 11th and will be free for 24 hours, so mark your calenders!
I edited that story (two rounds) and sent it back.
At the beginning of the month I edited my story for the Winter anthology and sent it back.
I edited a previously written contemporary short story and submitted it. Unfortunately, it wasn’t accepted.
I started working on a fantasy short story for an Australian anthology I would like to submit to.
I also continued working on my graphic novel and am making good progress on it.
If you remember, I submitted my middle grade fantasy novel to a publisher in July. Unfortunately, it was rejected. It seems they were sent a lot of fantasy manuscripts and since they have already published a lot of fantasy in this age category, they are looking for genres outside of it.
And finally, I attended a two-day online writing retreat with Omega Writers (Australian Christian Writers). It was such a great two days. The keynote speaker was Lori Roeleveld and she was such an encouragement to me, and the other writers.
That’s it for now.
How did your writing go in October? Did you hit your goals?
If you’re not a writer, how did your reading go? Let me know in the comments.
