June 2025 Update.

June was a quiet reading month for me. I only read four books. Considering I have a tall stack of ARCs to read, that is about to change in July.

It was also a quiet blogging month. I did manage to post two reviews:

Memoria, book three in the Nightingale Trilogy.

Caligo, sequel to the Nightingale Trilogy.

The Nightingale is a must read fantasy series, and if you haven’t heard of it, you can read my review of book one, Calor.

I was more productive on the writing front.

I finished draft two of my manuscript for the Love Inspired Author Search, and sent it off to beta readers.

I completed a middle grade fantasy way back in probably 2017, and decided I wanted to get that out and work on it again. A publisher here in Australia is opening to middle grade submissions in July, so I wanted to polish it up so I can submit it.

I started working on a new project I’m very excited about. It’s a fantasy novella that I want to give away to my newsletter subscribers when I start one. During June I started plotting it out, and wrote the prologue. My goal is to get the majority of it written during July.

On the flash fiction front:

My story ‘Ethel Grieves and the Invisibility’ Curse published on the Havok website. It is behind a paywall, but if you happen to be a member you can read it here.

A story I sent to them in May was rejected, but they gave me some great feedback. They liked it, but I guess they only have so many slots they can fill. It was actually the most positive and helpful rejection I have received.

Not to be dissuaded by the rejection, I wrote another flash fiction story and sent it to Havok. It’s a bit of a silly story for their ‘Wacky Wednesday’. Not exactly what I usually write so we’ll see how I go.

That’s it for me.

How did June go with you writing wise? And if you’re not a writer, how did your reading go in June?

I’d love to hear from you.
