May Update 2025

It’s hard to believe it’s June already! May was another busy month of writing, more about that below.

I only managed to read 4 books during May. I am hoping to read more this month as I have a lot of books I need to catch up on.

I was pleased with the amount I was able to blog during May, including a flash fiction piece I wrote in celebration of MerMay. If you missed it, you can read Lyra’s story here. It is around 800 words so is a quick read.

If you like mermaid stories, I also posted an excerpt from the short story collection ‘Saltwater Souls’ by Hannah Carter.

I also posted four reviews, which I am happy about. I am behind on my reviews and have lots more to come.

If you like dragons you might want to check out the short story collection ‘Amidst Fury and Valor’. Proceeds from the sale of this anthology go to helping a teen boy battling cancer.

I also reviewed ‘Lumen’ book 2 in the Nightingale Trilogy by J.J Fischer. I highly recommend this trilogy to fantasy fans.

If you like historical fiction with faith themes then check out Within The Veil by Brandy Vallance.

And my last review for May was the romantasy short story collection ‘Seasons of Romantasy: Spring’.

This is one of four anthologies releasing this year. Summer has just released, and Autumn and Winter will soon follow. I am excited for Winter as one of my stories will be in it.

I didn’t have time to arrange an author interview for May, but hoping to be able to post another author interview soon.

And now onto my writing news:

I found out that a flash fiction piece of mine will be publishing June 20th on Havok. It will be free for 24 hours, but then go behind a paywall. Havok is only $4.99 (US) a year, so if you like flash fiction stories you might want to sign up. I will post a link to my story on the day.

If you missed the news last time, I made it to round two of the Love Inspired Author Search. I have to send them my full manuscript. I finished the first draft on May 8th, and because I have to get it to them soon, I only took a short break before diving into draft two on May 12th. I was hoping to have draft two done by May 30th, but just completed it yesterday. It is a relief to have the second draft done. Now it is off to my beta readers before diving into draft three, and then I’ll have to send it.

I found out that a short story I had submitted in March was rejected. I really love this story so will either try and get it published somewhere else or maybe even publish it myself.

And lastly, I wrote, edited and submitted another flash fiction piece to Havok. I have written a fair amount of short stories but not a lot of flash fiction. I am really enjoying the challenge of writing them.

That’s it from me. How did your May go writing wise? And if you are a reader, what did you read during May? I’d love to hear from you.
