“When you sit down to write, write. Don’t do anything else but go to the bathroom, and only do that if it absolutely cannot be put off.”
— Stephen King.
I think it is so easy as a writer to get distracted by things, especially that shiny siren we call the internet. But if you want that book written you need to ignore those distractions, which is why I like to write first, check my email and social media second.
Love this! Thanks for sharing! King’s On Writing is the best book on the craft, so thanks for this beautiful selection. If you’re ever interested in some other great book reviews and musings, be sure to follow! Thanks!!!
Agreed! I loved On Writing.
And I’m happy to follow. Thanks for following me 🙂
Ooh, this is a quote I’ve seen many times before — and he makes such a good point. Distractions are terrible. TERRIBLE. There comes a time, for me, where I just have to switch off my internet, plug in my headphones, and WRITE, forgetting about everything around me. Otherwise life is just waaaaaay to distracting to actually get anything done.
I can be terrible at letting distractions get in my way, which is why I need quotes like this to poke me in the right direction again.
